World awards for beer and cider

August 31st, 2022

Peter Stuart, who founded Thistly Cross in 2008, raises a glass of his own cider in celebration

Belhaven Brewery and Thistly Cross, near neighbours on the western side of Dunbar, have both achieved remarkable success at awards ceremonies that celebrate the world’s best drinks.

Belhaven’s Scottish Oat Stout was named as the World’s Best Oatmeal Stout at the World Beer Awards 2022. Possibly an even greater success, its visitor centre was chosen as Visitor Attraction of the Year, beating stiff competition from around the globe.

Thistly Cross, meanwhile, had its strawberry cider named as the World’s Best Rosé Cider at the World Cider Awards 2022.

Amazingly, Thistly Cross also scooped awards for no less than five other ciders:  their Whisky Cask, Traditional and Elderflower Low Alcohol ciders all scooped Silver awards, and their Scottish Fruits and Original varieties took Bronze.

Huge congratulations from us to both brewers.
